Small Ode to Teresa With Five Names
She believes
in words…
She believes words
can become workers
striving to make the world
a slighty kinder place
despite being brought to their knees
by con men
in the service of greed
and chewed by fanatics
profiteering from hatred...
She knows words
can heal their gowns of honesty
and head out anew
aiming lamps toward enlightenment...
She puts on her miner’s hat
and with only a pick
of rescued syllables
delves into the depths
of her heart….
