Born in Sài Gòn, Việt Nam, a refugee of war, from the age of two and a half, Teresa Mei Chuc (Tuệ Mỹ Chúc) grew up on unceded Tongva territory in the village of Hahamongna (Pasadena, California), surrounded by the Tongva Xaayy (Mountains).
