Here is a poem by Duo Duo translated by Gregory B. Lee:
THE RIVERS OF AMSTERDAM
November as the city enters night
There are only the rivers of Amsterdam
Suddenly
The mandarins on the tree at home
Quiver in the autumn breeze
I shut the window, yet to no avail
The rivers flow backwards, yet to no avail
That sun all inlaid with pearls, has risen
Yet to no avail
Doves like iron filings scatter and fall
A road devoid of boys suddenly looks vast and empty
After the passing of the autumn rain
That roof crawling with snails
-- my motherland
On Amsterdam's rivers, slowly sailing by...
